But he didn’t go up to the stage alone, while Rodrigo sat at the piano, beside him were also Viviane Tupikova, Angela Silva, João Eleutério and Carlos Toni Gomes.

The concert started with the song “Ideia 1” that warmed up the auditorium and shortly afterwards “Lula Misterio” and “Cinema” were heard.

The youth choir of the Musical Association of Friends of Children (Associação Musical dos Amigos das Crianças), with about 20 young people, took the stage to accompany the group with the song “The Boy Inside”, directed by conductor João Barros.

This theme was the third theme of the album and was originally recorded with singer Casper Clausen, from the Danish group Efterklang, and with Italian musician Federico Albanese, also co-producer of the album.

The concert had a strong visual component, with animations, drawings, and videos, in which the ideas of transcendence, innocence and purity were explored through evocative images.

Another theme played during the magnificent concert was “O Cigarro” which was sung in Russian by violinist Viviena Tupikova, who also wrote the lyrics in Russian.

The singer Ângela Silva, with whom Rodrigo has worked for a long time, in addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, was also very important, either due to the suggestion of vocal arrangements or the unusual way of singing with words that do not exist.

“A Bailarina” is the first theme of the album and of course the concert was played by the musicians and accompanied by the youth choir of the Musical Association of Friends of Children, where the lead singer is Sofia, one of Rodrigo’s daughters, who sings with his magnificent voice a lullaby sung in an invented language.

After the last song, “O Dragão”, the audience surrendered and the room applauded the standing musicians, who, shortly after leaving, returned to the encore.

In the encore, the songs “Parte 1” were played and sung and the beloved song “A Bailarina” was re-heard. Altogether there were 20 exceptional themes that left the CCB amazed by the art and music of our artists.

Rodrigo Leão started his career in 1985 when he joined the Madredeus group with Pedro Ayres Magalhães, Francisco Ribeiro, Gabriel Gomes and Teresa Salgueiro.

Rodrigo also wrote soundtracks for films such as the comedy A Gaiola Dourada, the drama nominated for the Oscars The Butler and the documentary about the 1960s No Intenso Agora.

“O Metodo” is the artist’s latest project that was inspired by very different works together with the influences of composers like Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds and Max Richter. It is a very environmental album, with beautiful melodies inspired by childhood memories and that seek a certain idea of innocence.
