It was classified as World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus in Braga, at a meeting of the organization’s committee held in Baku, Azerbaijan
The Bom Jesus Sanctuary is one of 36 inscribed on the World Heritage List, which is being evaluated at the 43rd Session of the Heritage Committee, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Although it has raised a number of issues with the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), which appreciates the applications, with respect to authenticity and integrity, as well as the preservation and prevention of accidents, the proposal was approved.
