Santander inaugurates Work Café: A counter that is also a cafeteria

New concept combines an agency of Banco Santander, with a cafeteria and a co-working area that can be frequented by the general public.

Santander inaugurated a new counter concept on Tuesday. It is called Work Café and joins a branch of Banco Santander and a cafeteria in the same space, which can be frequented by anyone. It is a place where you can work, drink coffee, study or even have a meeting because there are offices for this purpose.

This new space is located in the Amoreiras area, in Lisbon, but the bank expects that the same experience will reach Coimbra, Espinho, and Porto later this year.

The presence of the coffee shop in the area results from a partnership with the Delta Group, for giving priority to “high-quality food products, in a healthy and gourmet perspective,” said the bank in a statement.

For this reason, the inauguration of the Work Café took place on Tuesday and was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco Santander in Portugal, António Vieira Monteiro – and other bank administrators – as well as with Delta CEO Cafés, Rui Miguel Nabeiro.

In the counter area Santander customers can carry out normal banking operations, but there is also an area called Santander Express, which allows access to self-banking and ATMs. In addition, personalized service with a manager is also available.

According to the same statement, the space is adapted for people with special needs, namely with access for customers with reduced mobility.

“The opening of the Work Café intends to respond to the needs that the cities have in offering spaces for the community, in zones of high traffic and, simultaneously, aimed at a close relationship with the Clients”, it can be read.
