Santos Silva starts Friday four-day visit to China

Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva starts Friday a four-day visit to China, during which he will meet with several members of the Chinese government.

The visit, which begins in Cantão, where Santos Silva will inaugurate a new consulate general of Portugal and meet with the Governor of that province, Ma Xingrui, aims to “strengthen the already close bilateral relationship. of President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to Portugal, “the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains in a statement.

In Macao, Augusto Santos Silva, who will make this trip accompanied by the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante Dias, will be on the second day of travel to China.

A visit to the Portuguese Consulate-General’s chancellery includes a meeting with the Councilors of Portuguese Communities, with Portuguese businessmen and Portuguese-speaking press, as well as a reception to the Portuguese Community at the end of the day, at the residence of the consulate.

A meeting with the head of the special administrative region (SAR), Fernando Chui Sai On, the visit to Macau Portuguese School and the Macao International Trade Fair are another highlight of the minister’s agenda in Macao.

From Macau, Augusto Santos Silva leaves for Beijing, where he has meetings at the highest level.

In Beijing, the minister attends the meeting of the 10th Joint Economic Commission between Portugal and China and has meetings with the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi and with China’s Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan, as well as with the director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Politburo member Yang Jiechi.

Also in Beijing, the Secretary of State for Internationalization is with Vice President of Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, Danny Alexander, and with the Chairman of the China-Portuguese Language Fund, Jin Guangze.

As for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, you will still meet representatives of the Portuguese-speaking press at the Embassy of Portugal.
