Yesterday, October 13, 2020, at 6:30 pm, Ginásio Clube Português received, proudly, at its facilities the visit of the Honorable Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Dr. João Paulo Rebelo.
One of the purposes of this visit was to show the example of very good practices of a reference club at national and international level, both in exercise and health (fitness) and in sport, in the pandemic phase that we are experiencing, and to understand and verify on the spot the difficulties that gyms and sports clubs face.
At the same time, the recently created Research and Development Department was also announced, which aims to apply scientific research to the study of exercise, health and sports performance throughout life, thus reinforcing professional intervention based on scientific evidence and also research and knowledge production aiming to answer concrete problems arising from field intervention.
In this context, the GCP has already published 10 articles in peer-indexed international journals, 8 presentations at international congresses, 5 scientific dissemination articles published in national general journals, 11 master’s theses and 2 monographs.
The delegation made a guided visit to the club’s facilities, passing through several gyms, checking the rigor of all the professionals and the correct adequacy of the use of the GCP facilities in compliance with the guidelines in force issued by the official entities.
