The first show of this series will take place on December 29th, at Coliseu dos Recreios, with new performances coming on January 2nd and 3rd, with the possibility of up to 3 sessions per day.
The inauguration of this series, on the 29th of December, will feature the fadistas Ana Sofia Varela, Célia Leiria, and Sandra Correia, accompanied by the Portuguese guitar by Pedro Amendoeira and, on the viola, by João Filipe.
Ana Sofia Varela, interpreter of “Má Fama”, was awarded in 2005 with the Amália Award for Best Performer, and in 2010, her album “Fados De Amor e Pecado” received the Amália Award for Best Disco.
Célia Leiria, interpreter of “Lençóis de Lua“, and Sandra Correia, who last year edited the album “Aqui Existo”, participated, last July, in a set of shows in honor of Amália, at Casino Estoril, within the scope of the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of the creator of “Com que voz”.
Amália Rodrigues stepped on the stage of the Coliseu dos Recreios several times, namely on the great nights of fado, a competition organized by Casa da Imprensa.
In July 1974, Amália participated in the show “Somos a Canção que Somos“. In 1985, he performed for the first time as a solo artist at the Coliseu, followed by two shows in April 1987, recorded on disc, and then the celebration of his 50th career in 1990.
Among Amália’s other performances at the Coliseu, there is also the 1994 concert, within the scope of the Lisbon, European Capital of Culture initiative.
