The IndieX Film Festival aims to disseminate and support “independent projects, especially with low or no budget”, as well as productions made in the school context, “by film students”, according to its ‘website’. It is organized on a bimonthly basis in Los Angeles, at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood.
‘A Margem’ was produced with the support of the Municipality of Tabuaço and was nominated in two more categories at the Indiex Film Festival, according to the municipality’s statement: best short film and best drama actress, Luísa Ortigoso.
Câmara de Tabuaço recalls that it had already financed two other films: ‘Tábuas com História’ (2016), directed by Marcantonio Del Carlo, Best International Film, at the Los Angels Brazilian Film Festival (LABRFF), and ‘Transfugo’ (2019), too Rodrigo Tavares, with members of the Teatraço group and shot in Tabuaço.
In the most recent edition of the Index Film Festival, the award for best ‘short’ went to ‘All That You Love Will Be Carried Away’, by American Thad Lee, while the best foreign ‘short’ went to ‘Il Vestito’ , by Maurizio Ravallese, from Italy.
‘A Strange Calm’, by Austin Rourke, from the United States, won the award for best short film produced in a school context.
