STP Airways resumes direct flights with Portugal

São Tomé’s airline, STP Airways, resumes its direct connections with Portugal on 3 July.

The direct flights from Portugal to São Tomé and Principe, and vice-versa, will restart on July 3rd and will be operated with euroAtlantic airways planes with a weekly frequency, on Fridays, revealed the Portuguese airline.

As with regular euroAtlantic flights to Guinea-Bissau, STP allows passengers to carry two hold bags with 30 kilos of luggage, in addition to a piece with 0.5 kilos in the cabin.

The objective of STP Airways, when resuming direct links between the two countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), suspended after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to support the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe and resume economic activities.

With the resumption of direct connections to Portugal, in addition to the resumption of economic and social activities, the country also expects, in the segment of sustainable tourism, the return of nuclear visitors to attract foreign exchange.

However, STP Airways warned its customers that until the discovery of a vaccine for the new coronavirus, there are new ways to travel safely, rules that airlines have been forced to adopt.

Thus, passengers on STP flights over the age of four years are required to submit a test to the COVID-19 carried out 72 hours before departure and the use of a surgical mask in the terminal and during the flight and on arrival in São Tomé, are subject to thermal screening.
