Taika Waititi will run a new Star Wars movie

According to Lucasfilm, Taika Waititi will sign the next film and co-sign the script, in partnership with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who in turn wrote the script for “1917”, by Sam Mendes.

This year Taika Waititi won the Oscar for best screenplay adapted for the film “Jojo Rabbit”, and also made two episodes of the series “The Mandalorian”, also linked to the universe of “Star Wars”, and shown on the Disney + platform.

Little more is known about this new film and the link to the nine previous films, which premiered between 1977 (“Star Wars: A New Hope”) and 2019 (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”).

The producer founded by George Lucas also announced that, together with Disney +, a new television series is being prepared, still in the “Star Wars” themed universe, with Leslye Headland, from the “Russian Doll” series.
