Temps D’Images Festival returns to Lisbon with seven premieres

The Temps d’Images Festival, dedicated to the crossing of contemporary artistic creation, returns to Lisbon in its 16th edition, between November 1st and December 2nd, featuring seven absolute premieres, among spectacles, concerts, exhibitions and cinema.

The multidisciplinary event was presented today at a press conference in Lisbon, with the presence of the artistic director, António Câmara Manuel, who underlined: ‘We want the festival to be continuously new, with a new look’.

The event will have 24 events, which will involve globally 37 artists and collectives, presenting themselves in 15 spaces of the capital, following its primary objective, “to spread the work of artists at the beginning of their career as well as consecrated artists, exploring the relationship between the ‘live’ and the image “.

For the direction, the Temps D’Images assumes like “a platform that allows to realize artistic works that do not find visibility in other contexts”.

Among the seven absolute premieres scheduled for the program are ‘Utopia.doc’ and ‘In The Confort of Your Own Home’, two creations by the Brazilian filmmaker and artist Christiane Jatahy, co-produced by Duplacena in the context of Biennial Artist in the City , with views interspersed between November 11 and 14.

The session on the 11th will feature the artist’s presence and presentation / conversation with António Rodrigues (Cinemateca). The session on the 12th will feature the presence of the artist and presentation / conversation with Aida Tavares (São Luiz Municipal Theater).

Also the conference-performance ‘Of near, a stone’, of João Fiadeiro and Leonardo Mouramateus, will be presented in the festival, in an absolute debut.

The shows’ Www. We Want Wafles # 1 ‘, by João Estevens,’ The Ballad of Love and Death by Standard Bearer Christoph Rilke ‘by Maria Duarte and João Rodrigues, will also be presented in an absolute debut.

Miguel Bonneville’s ‘Soma’, by Jonathan Saldanha, ‘Where is the coat’, by Ana Jotta, João dos Santos Martins and Cyriaque Villemaux, ‘Jungle Red’ by Carlota Lagido, ‘Burn Time’ by André Uerba, ‘Carrossel’ by Ana Renata Polónia, and ‘Do you rememeber that we were together and danced this or that dance?’ By Clara Amaral, will premiere in Lisbon.

Henrique Furtado’s and Chiara Taviani’s “Stand Still You’ll Be Moving Spheres of Heaven” will also be a debut in Portugal, through Temps D’Images.

The SillySeason debut their new play ‘Testament in three acts’, a biographical work from the work of Shakespeare.

On November 1st and 2nd, the festival starts at Appleton Square with ‘Boas Garotas’, a performance by Clarissa Sacchelli that is born from a selection of videos from VideoBrasil’s historical archive, which the artist appropriated and reinterpreted.

The next day, the videos that were the basis of the artist’s work will be projected, which mark the history of Brazilian video art.

Until November 12, the ‘open call’ for LOOPS.LISBOA 2018 will be on the way, challenging artists to submit works that explore the concept of a loop.

The three finalist works will be exhibited at the National Museum of Contemporary Art – Museu do Chiado, in Lisbon, starting on November 30. The Jury Prize will be 2,000 euros.

The spaces that host Temps d’Images 2018 are Alkantara Space, Appleton Square, BLX – Marvila Library, CAL, Ideal Cinema, Cinemateca Portuguesa – Culturgest Museum, DAMAS, Museum of Art Architecture and Technology, National Museum of Art Contemporary – Chiado Museum, Pancas Palha Palace, Rua das Gaivotas 6, Sociedade Musical Ordem e Progresso, Teatro do Bairro and Teatro Ibérico.

Temps D’Images – which originated in the heart of Europe in 2003 under a project led by ARTE, the European culture channel – is produced by Duplacena.
