The benefits of coloring books in reducing stress for this quarantine

Coloring books are not just for children and can be useful for preserving the mental health of all those who are in the quarantine period because of Covid-19.

2005 research found that anxiety levels dropped when individuals colored mandalas, which are round frames with geometric patterns on the inside. The act of doodling, however, had no effect in reducing other subjects’ stress levels.

Just like meditation, coloring also allows us to disconnect the brain from other thoughts and focus only on the moment, helping to alleviate fluctuating anxiety.
