The Black Mamba at the ‘Live Session’ of the Portuguese embassy in London

The band The Black Mamba will perform on Thursday the first ‘Live Session at the Embassy’ a concert at the Portuguese embassy in London as part of a project to internationalize Portuguese artists in the United Kingdom.

The concert takes place in the hall of the residence of the ambassador, Manuel Lobo Antunes, a room decorated with furniture and old paintings and a regular scene of protocol events.

“It is a beautiful building with a majestic hall that provides the intimate atmosphere in which we intend to involve the musicians and guests,” the promoter, Francisco Portal.

The initiative is from Deleted Scene, a Portuguese-language, Cambridge-based artists’ agency that finds a way to introduce national musicians to programmers and British filmmakers.

The concert in the embassy, which has the support of the Camões Institute, allows reducing costs of travel and the necessary resources to present the artists in other British halls, namely with equipment and accommodation.

Portal explains that “the process of initiation to internationalization always involves the investment of producers, agencies representing the artists and the artists themselves”, but this first experience has already had results.

As part of their trip to the UK, The Black Mamba will perform at the Cambridge International Jazz Festival on Wednesday and then head to the Netherlands, where they have scheduled three concerts.

The group will perform “The Mamba King”, the third album, released on October 19, and try to export abroad the success obtained in Portugal, where they filled the Lisbon and Porto Coliseums earlier this year.
