10-09-2019, THIRD ROOM 1
Almost 40 years in the baggage career Australians The Church are back in our country – 29 years after last ticket to Cinema Alvalade in 1990 – for two concerts scheduled for September under the seal At The Rollercoaster. THE Steve Kilbey’s band performs in Portugal on September 10, for a concert scheduled at the Hard Club, Porto and down to the capital where he will play on September 11 at the RCA Club in Lisbon.
The setlist promises to make the full 30-year-old album Starfish (1988) heard and remains one of the seminal career albums.
The Church began by seeing their sonority associated with genres such as new wave, neo-psychedelia and indie rock, which would later forge into slower rhythms with an aesthetic close to dream-pop and post-rock. Of Skins and Heart’s debut album (1981) gave them a major worldwide projection but it was with Starfish (1988) that The Church made themselves heard loudly, becoming the renowned band they are today.
Lisbon and Porto pass two of the members of the formation Steve Kilbey (lead vocals, electric bass), who has always been has maintained as the bandleader since 1980 and Peter Koppes (guitar, keyboards, voice). These musicians are joined by Tim Powles, Ian Haug and Jeff Cain, guest musician for this tour.
