Qatar Grand Prix starts scheduled for 17h00 on Sunday.
The Portuguese motorcycle lovers can, in the end, wait for the end. It is already Sunday that Miguel Oliveira, runner-up Moto2 world champion, will debut in MotoGP, the premier class of the sport.
In what is the first Grand Prix of the year in Qatar, the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider will start in the sixth row of the grid and in 17th place, next to the main driver of the ‘team’, Pol Espargaró.
The Portuguese were the 20th overall in the Losail circuit, so they had to compete for Q1, where only the top two – in this case Cal Crutchlow and Takasaki Nakagami – qualified, finishing in the seventh position.
Miguel Oliveira will start his MotoGP role immediately behind Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, while pole position will belong to fourth-placed Maverick Viñales last season.
After qualifying, the Spaniard recalled that the 17th position from which he will leave “is not the worst” in which he has been, and promised to “try to get a good start and reach the points that give points.” That is, from the 15th place up.
The Qatar Grand Prix, it is recalled, starts scheduled for 17h (Continental Time) on Sunday.
