The Fado Museum will feature an exhibition dedicated to José Pracana

The Fado Museum presents a retrospective dedicated to the musician, performer, collector and researcher José Pracana (1946-2016), consensually recognized as one of the greatest figures in the history of Fado.

The exhibition starts on November 14th at 7 pm and will be open until February 23.

Amateur by conviction, such a statute has never prevented him from accompanying and living with the great pillars of the fadista tradition (…) and safeguarding it for future memory. It was one of the most complete personalities Fado has ever known” says Sara Pereira, director of the Fado Museum and curator of this exhibition.

On display is the vast personal collection of José Pracana: photographs, newspapers, records, documents, posters, musical instruments, trophies and decorations.

It is also possible to view archival images of some of the television programs he directed and an approximation to the unique environment of the fadista gatherings he promoted in Ponta Delgada, by recreating his retreat in this Azorean city.
