The Festa do Avante! has this year its 44th edition on the 4th, 5th and 6th of September at Quinta da Atalaia, in Seixal

The Festa do Avante! 2020, which starts tomorrow, is a political and cultural festival of the communist party whose context is the defense of the interests of workers and the people, fighting, right by right, for new advances and for structural responses to national problems, and for the realization of an alternative patriotic left-wing policy with “eyes set on the fight“.

It is a multifaceted initiative that includes political moments, rallies, debates and exhibitions; musical theater and cinema performances; the Book and Disco Fair, and an area dedicated to children and youth.

Quinta da Atalaia, which hosts the Festa do Avante!, is an ample outdoor space, recently expanded to 30 hectares for the use of visitors. To respond to the pandemic crisis, the Avante! imposed better hygiene conditions and the maximum capacity was reduced to one third.

Some of the rules to be followed on the festival grounds are regular handwashing at multiple points with soap and water placed throughout the grounds; the physical distance of 1.5 to 2 meters between people; and the use of masks in the indicated places.

In this political-cultural festival there will be several cultural spaces such as a space dedicated to sports, children and young people; a space dedicated to science; a book fair; and 4 cultural stages where you can see plays and concerts with a big poster with names like Blasted, Dead Combo, Xutos & Pontapés, Mão Morta, Capicua, Lena d’Água, Marta Ren, Dino Santiago, Scúru Fitchádu, Camané and Mário Laginha and much more.
