The challenge is, in 1949 hours, to cover 3700 km across seven countries, celebrating Abarth’s 70th anniversary.
It was in Turin that the “Tour of Europe in 1949 Hours” restarted, the project is an exciting tour of Europe aboard the Abarth 695 along a multifaceted route of about 3700 km, from the Netherlands to Portugal.
The “Tour of Europe in 1949 Hours” is now ready to get back on the road for a celebration of Abarth‘s history combined with the passion for the challenge and the constant search for performance. After taking off last February from the German town of Lijnden, about 10 km from Amsterdam, Abarth 695 70° Anniversario arrived in Belgium.
Due to the pandemic, the route had to stop at the time the special series returned to Turin, the city of Abarth’s first office, and where the Scorpion and Heritage Hub headquarters are located, which houses some of the most important models produced by Abarth throughout its history.
The capital of Piedmont is about to see the Abarth 695 70° Anniversario start the engines again, with that powerful and aggressive ‘roar’, highlighted by the exhaust system “Record Monza Attivo”. This special content is an active valve controlled by the Sport button placed on the dashboard, which allows the driver to choose between a gentleman driver sound and a deeper roar.
At the beginning, from Turin, the car will go to the French Riviera, followed by Spain, passing through Barcelona and Madrid, and finally Lisbon.
In total, the “Tour of Europe in 1949 Hours” will last exactly 1949 hours, a clear tribute to the year the brand was founded and the number of Abarth 695 70° Anniversario units produced. 1949 hours correspond to about 80 days, as does the adventure told by Jules Verne in his work “Around the World in Eighty Days“.
