The voice of women murdered on stage at the Almada Festival

The show “Rebota rebota y en tu cara explota“, on stage at the Cine-Teatro of the Academia Almadense was already the target of several distinctions in 2017 and 2018.

On Thursday, the 23rd, at 6 pm, at the TMJB Esplanade, we have a conversation with João Botelho, director of A maid Zerlina. Moderation is by Emília Costa.

At 9:30 pm, three shows: Mártir, staged by Rodrigo Francisco, at the TMJB Experimental Room; The maid Zerlina, staged by João Botelho, at the Romeu Correia Forum; and Rebota rebota y en tu cara explota, a creation of Agnés Mateus and Quim Tarrida, at the Almadense Academy.

Several times awarded with some of the most prestigious distinctions in Catalonia (Critics’ Award for the Best Show of New Trends of 2017, “Applause” Award by FAD – Sebastià Gasch Award, and Butaca Award for New Scenic Contributions, both in 2018), here it is a reflection of great performative power, which demonstrates to what extent “the body of women is where the failure of the State manifests” (Rita Laura Segato, anthropologist and writer).

With a well-established foot in the performance, in which the body, and even the words that the body says are of the visceral order, it is a courageous but also harsh and disconcerting show, which shows life without hypocrisy and not leaves no one indifferent. Against conformism and a passivity that makes you think, perhaps it only remains to show violence with violence.
