The weekend is here. Learn what you can see for free in Lisbon and Porto
See the tassels you can enjoy this weekend of August, in Lisbon and Porto.
In Porto and Lisbon, there are many and varied cultural proposals, always very friendly to the wallet, to discover. Whether alone or in good company.
There is music, exhibitions and plenty of outdoor cinema to enjoy in the North and South, with options for both small and large.
The best thing is not to stay home and find out with us what you can enjoy for free these days 23, 24 and 25 August.
There is a cinema in the Torel Garden
The Torel Garden is one of Lisbon’s most delicious ‘hidden’ green spaces. These days it is also synonymous with an open-air cinema on Saturdays and, as you wish on this agenda, it is free. The sessions are always at 9:30 pm. This Saturday, the 24th, there is a classic to see: ‘Who Trammed Roger Rabbit?’.
Seven Suns Seven Moons
The Gunpowder Factory in Barcarena is once again the scene of the Seven Suns Seven Moon Festival. There are several concerts that have happened and many still will happen in this 27th edition of the festival, which lasts until August 31st. Admission is free.
Out Jazz continues
Out Jazz is already one of the hippest traditions in Lisbon. Outdoor music and good weather with friends at the end of Sunday. The recipe is foolproof and is to be taken weekly. In May, Out Jazz took place in the Torre de Belém Garden. In June, it moved to Campo Grande Garden and, in July, it was the turn of the Jardim da Estrela to ‘come to service’. In August, Ribeira das Naus is the meeting point. The music is always on Sundays and starts at 17h.
Vieira da Silva, an immersive experience
‘Art Has Come to Colombo’ is an initiative that gives us the opportunity to discover the art of big names in the ‘heart’ of the shopping center. At stake is an immersive digital art and multimedia experience that uses perspective, color and shape to celebrate 35 works by Vieira da Silva, adding life to them digitally and deconstructing them in an unprecedented way. It ends August 26th, so enjoy it.
There is a cinema at Fábrica da Pólvora
The Gunpowder Factory, a special space in suburban Barcarena, has more than Seven Suns Seven Luas. There is also a cinema for young and old. On Saturday nights, at 10 pm, the movies are more for the grown up. As early as Sunday morning, at 10:30 am, it is the turn of the youngest to have cinematic options to think about. Admission is free but limited to existing places.
Oeiras is a Stage
Oeiras has been very lively. Every Saturday and Sunday, between 17h and 18h, are live music and shows in the most diverse spaces. Take note of what you can enjoy this weekend: on Saturday there are circus arts from Chapitô in the Carnaxide Civic Center, Sunday is the turn to listen to Original Bandalheira, in the Nova Oeiras neighborhood.
Mia Rose Live
It was from YouTube to the stage and escape that Mia Rose’s music jumped. Now there is a great opportunity to listen live without having to pay anything for it. It is already this Friday, August 23, at MAR Shopping Matosinhos, from 21h.
Is This Real?
Kher-Nun, DJ project by Rui Mesquita, Gandhabba, a project by Manuel Batista, and DJ and producer Suspect will give us music at Is This Real?, to discover this Friday at Gare Porto (Rua da Madeira, 182 – Porto).
House Music Summer
The Casa da Música Esplanade is a musical meeting place on these summer days. It is the Summer cycle of the House that is at stake in what is one of the most emblematic cultural spaces in the country. Check out the Casa da Música website to know what to expect. The program lasts until September 11th.
Dominguinhos at MAR Shopping
The little one always has things to do on Sunday mornings at MAR Shopping. From 11am, there are workshops for the younger ones to venture out. This Sunday there is Story Time – The Mimi Witch goes to the beach.
Celebrating its twentieth edition this year, Cinema Fora do Sítio is back throughout August, with ten free screenings in five public spaces in the city of Porto. The cycle is a corganization of the Inatel Foundation and the Porto Chamber. This Friday and Saturday there are very recent movies to (re) watch.
The Douro on display
The exhibition ‘Douro [DWR] 3 soils between sky and earth’ is exhibited at Pasteleira Reservoir until April 20th. It is an exhibition about the Douro region, throughout its territory from the Spanish border to the sea. Admission is free. To see until August 31st.
