Max temperatures on the mainland are expected to rise on Saturday between 4 and 8 degrees, and are expected to reach near 30 degrees in the interior of Alentejo and Vale do Tejo, according to meteorologist Maria João Frada.
The meteorologist at the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said that for Friday only a small increase in the maximum in the Interior, cloudiness in the regions of the North and Center, and some weak showers until mid-morning to the north of the Montejunto-Estrela mountain system, which may be snow above 1500 meters.
“For the weekend the scenery changes, and on Saturday we will see a rise between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius and on Sunday a further rise of the order of 2 to 5 degrees C. We will reach Sunday with temperatures close to 30 degrees inland the Alentejo and the area of the Tagus Valley, “he said.
According to Maria João Frada, for the weekend it is predicted a cloudy or clear sky and moderate to weak wind from the eastern quadrant.
“The weather will remain unchanged until Monday. On Tuesday, the trend will be for a small fall of the maximum because there comes a frontal surface of little activity and that will only result in a small drop in temperature maximum and cloudiness in the northern regions of the Montejunto-Estrela system, “he said.
Good weather is almost here … but there is still cold and rain today
Ten districts of mainland Portugal are now under yellow warning due to the forecast of strong maritime agitation, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the atmosphere (IPMA).
According to the IPMA, the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja, and Faro are under a yellow warning until 16h00 today.
On the West Coast are expected northwest waves with 4 to 5 meters, decreasing to 3 to 3.5 meters from the afternoon and the South Coast waves of the southwest with 1 to 1.5 meters.
As for the weather, the IPMA predicts for today in the regions of the North and Center sky is usually very cloudy, becoming cloudy or clear from late afternoon and weak downpours in the regions north of the Montejunto-Estrela system, until half in the morning, more frequent in the littoral and that will be of snow above 1400/1600 meters.
It is also forecast weak to moderate wind from the west quadrant and a small rise in maximum temperature in the interior regions.
In the South region, the forecast points to a cloudy or clear sky, presenting periods of greater cloudiness between the middle of the morning and the middle of the afternoon and small increase of the maximum temperature in the interior regions.
It is also forecast weak to moderate wind from the northwest, being from the southwest in the leeward during the afternoon, and blowing moderate to strong in the western coastal range from mid-afternoon.
The minimum temperatures in the continent will range between 4 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 11 (in Lisbon and Aveiro) and the maximum between 11 (in Guarda) and 21 (in Faro).
