This Easter, in São Brás de Alportel, faith and tradition come out the window

Given the state of national emergency resulting from the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus COVID19, São Brás de Alportel is preparing to celebrate Easter Sunday, the day of the county’s ex-libris party, with the same fervor, but from the window of each House.

As it is not possible to bring the party to the street, as it has been since time immemorial, with the traditional and impressive procession of Hallelujah, its Torches and the flower carpets to color the main streets of the village, the São Brasenses are invited to live the end of Lent and celebrate Easter in community, but from your window, confined to your home, safely, in the form of a gift and delivery to others.

The Municipality, in partnership with the Parish of São Brás de Alportel and the Associação Cultural Sambrasense, entities that year after year organize the Festa das Tochas Floridas, are inviting the whole community to attend the Eucharistic of the Resurrection, which will be broadcast live on internet, accessible on the municipality’s Facebook and Instagram social networks, at 10:30 am this Sunday, April 12th.

Respecting the rules of social isolation, the community is invited to put quilts on the windows and balconies of their houses where, at 11:30 am, they are challenged to sing and make the faith and tradition of São Paulo sound, which rejoices with the resurrection of Jesus.

The traditional Flower Games Contest, that is, of blocks and verses inspired by the São Paulo Easter traditions, continued this year, although appropriate to the pandemic context, and the awarded works will be known on Easter Sunday, April 12, on the page of Facebook of Associação Cultural Sambrasense.

A digital photography contest is also taking place under the theme “Procissão de Aleluia”, an initiative promoted by Associação Cultural Sambrasense, in partnership with the Municipality, which aims to remember the best moments and the different perspectives on this event that, year after year , has been involving and being a source of pride for the whole community.
