Three Trends in Education for 2020 according to the Sommet Education Group

Sommet Education, a group of higher education that includes the main institutions of Hotel Management in the world, such as the Glion Institute of Higher Education, Les Roches and Ecole Ducasse, released a report that identifies the main trends that shape education in the hotel industry in 2020.

Last year, under the vision of Eric Wyttynck, Director of Information, Innovation and Digital Officer of the Group, an internal contest was launched where all the company’s talents contributed with the aim of gathering new perspectives and ideas to try to predict the learning experience of a student in 2050. The challenge, open to all teachers and staff at Les Roches, Glion and Sommet Education, highlighted the trends that shape Education of the future. Based on Sommet Education’s expertise, the report entitled “Top Trends in Education for 2020” examines emerging trends in three key areas:

• Personalization: Higher education is increasingly focused on the student’s experience, where the single model is no longer perceived as the best way to learn. In fact, the new generation of global citizens has more expectations of autonomy, flexibility and internationalization vis-à-vis the education system, raising the customization of learning to something essential.

• Technology: Schools must evolve to embrace new training styles using technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and AI emotion to improve the student experience. These emerging technologies have the potential to transform the hospitality industry in ways that we cannot yet imagine.

• Lifelong learning: With computerization to “remodel” most jobs on the one hand and the increase in career changes on the other, a continuous acquisition and updating of skills is extremely important for individuals to remain “employable”. Whether through formal or non-formal learning, it is possible for everyone to find the perfect method that fits the skills and learning styles appropriate to their profession as well.

The education sector is transforming and the student-centered approach is becoming the common element that runs through the main trends of 2020. The impact of the above trends on the future of education is discussed in greater depth in the full report , available at Sommet Education.com – http://www.sommet-education.com/wp-content/uploads/Top-Trends-in-Education-for-2020.pdf
