Today the program for Ponte’s 25th anniversary was presented in Vigo … on the waves!
At the Miralles auditorium of the University of Vigo, the organization of the day together with the Vice-Chancellor of Communication and Institutional Relations of the University of Vigo, Mónica Valderrama, today presented the activities that are being developed throughout this year by Ponte … in waves!
Bridge …. in the waves! thanks to the participation of schools in Galicia and Northern Portugal and the collaboration of public and local radio stations in the radio journey that will take place on 27 March. 55 primary and secondary schools are already enrolled together with students from the Universities of Santiago, Vigo and Trás-os-Montes, who will participate in the programs from the 22 broadcasting locations distributed throughout the Euroregion, as well as in the programs that will be produced in the schools themselves.
The University of Vigo will coordinate the audio and video transmission carried out by Uvigo TV, the television of the University of Vigo, through the website Schools on the waves (www.escolasnasondas.com). At the Miralles auditorium, there will be a live program produced by schools in Vigo and its surroundings between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm with guests and the musical performances of Magín Blanco and Mª José Pérez, among others.
At the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Santiago de Compostela there will also be a special program between 10:00 and 14:00 hours in which students from the Faculty and schools in Santiago and the surrounding area will participate. There will be a round table on the common Galician-Portuguese heritage with the participation of Valentín García da Xunta de Galicia, Carlos Quiroga of the Galician Language Association, Victor Freixanes of the Royal Galician Academy, among others. Tanxugueiras, Deteriorados, Leo i Arremecághona, Luis Caruncho, Susana Seivane and the Pipers Meninas da Saudade will act as guests.
From Braga, Rádio Universitária do Minho (RUM) will broadcast a special broadcast with schools in the municipality between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm and with guests and musicians from the Minho region such as Daniel Pereira Cristo or Augusto Canário, among others.
In Ponteareas, the Reveriano Soutullo municipal auditorium will host, between 10:00 and 14:00 hours, a live program, produced by schools in the region, which will be streamed by the Si radio station.
In Chaves, also in the municipal auditorium and with the collaboration of Eurocidade Verín-Chaves, schools will broadcast a live program between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, which will be broadcast by Rádio Chaves and will have guests and musical performances.
In addition, there will be live programs on different Galician and Portuguese radio stations, such as Rádio Piratona de Vigo, Rádio Redondela, Rádio Allariz, Rádio Montalegre, Rádio Afifense, Rádio Tui, Onda Cero Monforte, Cadena SER Carballiño, Rádio Fene, Rádio Ames, CUAC FM of A Coruña, Rádio Vale do Minho and Rádio Cultural de Cerveira.
Finally, several schools will join the celebration with special programs from their school radio stations.
SPECIAL COLLABORATIONS
Several artists, such as Magín Blanco, Uxía, Dulce Pontes, Vozes da Rádio and Voces del más acá will present songs composed for this celebration of the 25th anniversary of Ponte … on the waves!
CONNECTIONS
Different connections are foreseen with commercial radio stations from all over the country and also from Spain.
DOCUMENTARY
Throughout the 27th of March, a team of professionals will travel to the different radio studios and production sites to record the broadcasts and musical collaborations with the aim of producing a documentary that will show all the activity developed.

Also on the network of radio stations, the Ministries of Education of Portugal and Spain, the Xunta de Galicia, the Xacobeo, the Deputación de Pontevedra, the Universities of Vigo and Santiago de Compostela, the Radiofusión group, and several other collaborators with this 25th anniversary City councils and Eurocities.
25 YEARS OF GOOD PRACTICE WITH HERITAGE AND EDUCATION
Throughout this period, Ponte … on the waves! it has carried out activities to promote and transmit the Galician-Portuguese intangible heritage to the new generations of Galicia and Portugal. Among other recognitions, the “Good Ibero-American Practice” seal of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain or the “Ondas Award” for the “best journalistic coverage” of the Galician-Portuguese intangible heritage are worth mentioning. In 2016, UNESCO believed the Bridge … in the waves! as a consultant NGO for intangible heritage.
