Summary of the evolution of tourism to July 2020
In relation to 2019, the month of July 2020 presented the following variations in accommodation units in the Algarve: The average global occupancy rate/room was 33.2%, 60.2% below the value registered in 2019;
The British market was the one that most contributed to the decrease (-91.1%), followed by the Irish (-91.9%), German (-58.9%) and the Dutch (-67.3%); The national market was the one with the lowest decrease (-8.3%), having represented 61.1% of the total overnight stays.
About 22% of classified beds remained closed, so the percentage of developments that have not yet reopened is much higher.
Sales volume decreased by 66% compared to the same month of the previous year; In accumulated values, the bed occupancy registered an average decrease of -62.9% since January and the sales volume decreased by -61.8%.
