Toyota’s electrified vehicles continue to deserve the preference of the Portuguese and the brand’s sales reflect that. Out of a total of 3013 light passenger vehicles, Toyota registered, in the first 6 months of 2020, 1882 vehicles with hybrid technology.
With a strong weight in sales, hybrid vehicles represent 63% of Toyota’s total passenger car sales in Portugal in the first half of the year.
In this period, Corolla sales exceeded the C-HR crossover that led the way in 2019. Corolla was the brand’s best-selling hybrid model with around 93% of Corolla customers opting for the hybrid version.
With a very strong performance of the electrified versions, the SUV C-HR recorded sales very close to the Corolla, and the preference for hybrid engines is even higher, representing 95% of the model’s sales.
There are already more than 15 million hybrids sold with Toyota technology, which is equivalent to a reduction in CO2 emissions of 120 million tons worldwide. Since the beginning of sales in Europe, in the year 2000, the brand has been increasing the percentage of sales of electrified models.
