Trade between China and Portuguese speaking countries up 25.3% through November

Trade between China and Portuguese-speaking countries reached 134.981 billion US dollars (about 119 billion euros) between January and November, Chinese officials said.

According to statistics from the Chinese Customs services, published on Monday, this figure represented an increase of 25.3% over the same period of the previous year.

Between January and November 2018, imports from China from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor-Leste totaled US $ 96.670 billion, which represents a rise of 29.3%, according to the same data published on the website of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Chinese exports to the Lusophone bloc were the US $ 38.311 billion, an increase of 16.1% over the same period in 2017, they said.

Last November, trade volume fell 8.56% from the previous month to 12.682 billion dollars.

In October 2018, trade between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries had increased by 1.8% compared to September to 13.9 billion dollars, while between January and October, bilateral trade was 122,300 billion (€ 107.6 billion), or 24.8% more.

In the first 11 months of the year, Brazil remained China’s main partner, with trade totalling 101.553 billion dollars.

At the bottom of the table is Sao Tome and Principe, with 6.52 million dollars.

Between Portugal and China, trade between January and November reached $ 5.53 million, with Lisbon importing goods worth $ 3.45 billion and exporting $ 2.088 billion to Beijing.
