Uber launches JUMP scooters at Web Summit

388views

Uber announced the launch of JUMP electric scooters at the Web Summit in Lisbon, with more than 200 available in the app. Alongside more than 1700 JUMP e-bikes, the launch of scooters is another step forward in Uber’s vision to become the operating system for everyday life.

JUMP scooters will be available in the Uber app from 2pm today, with new Uber users getting their first ride for free. With safety a top priority for Uber, the new e-scooter was designed with a focus on safety: the scooter frame is bigger and more durable frame and has larger wheels so it can more easily navigate rough spots in the road. It also has a new hand brake lever that is the same style as the hand brakes you find on a bicycle. When applied, the brake engages both scooter wheels.

The JUMP scooters will have a maximum speed of 20 km p/h and parking will only be allowed in designated areas agreed with the city of Lisbon.
As Uber continues to encourage more people to replace their car with their phone, JUMP scooters will be included in the monthly JUMP e-mobility subscription pilot offering users a more affordable way to get around Lisbon every day.

JUMP e-mobility subscriptions:
● Electric Plan: 30 minutes a day for €14,90 per month – saving up to €180 per month;
● Electric + Plan: 60 minutes a day for €24,90 per month – saving up to €360 euros per month.
