University of Coimbra with nightly heritage visits until September

The University of Coimbra promotes, until September 8, a program of nocturnal visits, on Saturdays, to spaces of the institution, like the Old Royal Palace or the Joanina Library.

The initiative, UC by Night, seeks to reveal “the heritage of the oldest university in the country” through a “very special program of visits”, subject to a limited number of 80 registrations per night, divided into two groups ( Portuguese language and English language), reveals the institution.

The program for each visit starts with a concert of Fado de Coimbra and ends “to contemplate the city after [if] climbing the 184 steps of access to the top of the University Tower.”

The guided tour, “in a different and intimate register”, runs through places like the Old Royal Palace, the Joanina Library and the Academic Prison, refers to the University of Coimbra.

The program is held every Saturday until September 8, with visits beginning at 9:15 pm.
