Valorsul campaign distinguished with the Recognition of Practices in Social Responsibility Award
The Portuguese Business Ethics Association awarded the “Toneladas de Ajuda” campaign the Prize for Recognizing Practices in Social Responsibility, regarding the 11th United Nations Sustainable Development Goal: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The ceremony, dedicated to the theme “2020-2030: The Decade of Sustainability”, integrated in the 15th Edition of Social Responsibility Week, took place on November 19 and was attended by the Secretary of State for the Treasury, Miguel Cruz.
Through the “Toneladas de Ajuda” campaign, Valorsul receives recyclable waste delivered to the Ecocenters by the associated institutions or by anyone else on its behalf, allocating financial contributions to the associations. The waste treatment and recovery company thus joined its environmental mission with the social mission of these institutions.
This year, the initiative mobilized 75 institutions, with 305 tonnes of packaging collected for recycling until November 15, which will allow these associations to finance around 57 thousand euros.
Since its start in 2018, the financial aid of the “Tonelada de Ajuda” has exceeded 94 thousand euros, managing to send to recycle about 475 tons of materials delivered by the institutions.
