Viana do Castelo – Video

Viana do Castelo, a sea fog that develops from the reign of D. Manuel I, with the trade of the cycles of English cloths and salt, the iron with Asturias and Biscay, and the Cod cycle in Newfoundland.

Its golden period occurs with the Brazilian sugar cycle; in 1590 there are 70 ships of the vianense fleet that are engaged in the transportation of sugar. City filled with high quality architectural buildings, authentic granite sculptures.

Between 1510-1630 no less than 6 convents were created. Inside the churches we have original tiles from various eras, quality golden carvings, where we can appreciate the works of André Soares, and João Lopes among other northern artists.
