Women’s national team wins Turkey in private match

The Portuguese women’s under-19 soccer team beat Turkey 3-0 today in preparation for the first round of qualifying for the 2020 European Championship in Georgia.

At Bragança Municipal Stadium, in the first of two matches with Turkey, the team coached by José Paisana won with goals from Lara Pintassilgo at 18 minutes, Telma Encarnação at 64 and Carolina Santana at 88.

This was the first of two private matches scheduled with the Turks, with the second being played on Thursday at 2:30 pm in Mirandela.

The women’s Under-19 squad will play in the first qualifying round for Euro2020 in Group 3, which will take place from 2 to 8 October in Portugal, with Germany, Albania and Azerbaijan as their opponents.

The top two finishers in the 12 groups, along with the top four finishers, qualify for the elite round, which will take place on November 21st and the games by 2020.

The finals of the U19 Women’s European Championship, in which Portugal was a semi-finalist in 2012, will take place in Georgia in July 2020.
