Rui Pedro Meira, from Areosa, Viana do Castelo, will represent Portugal at the European Young Chef Awards, a contest organized by IGCAT on Rhodes Island, Greece, from October 22nd to 24th.
The young Minho chef will represent Portugal at the European Young Chef Awards and has chosen to present at the international competition a meat-and-meat finish with bisaro pork, cachena beef, chicken, beef hand, chorizo accompanied by sarrabulho rice and cured and glazed onions, according to information released by the IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism).
Last May, the young man was the big winner of the second edition of the Minho Young Chef Awards (MYCA), which took place in Vila Nova de Falamicão, with the making of a traditionally made sarrabulho rice and another reinvented.
At the time, António Loureiro, a Michelin star chef and member of the jury, told IGCAT: “Rui Pedro was an outstanding competitor. Betting on tradition and adding originality, without distorting the concept of typical cuisine of the region. It is an extremely minhoto dish. “
